The farm foodcraft , Bangsar, The sphere
Farm-To-Table restaurants has raise to its popularity these days in Kuala Lumpur and their goal is to bring you the freshest ingredients that are grown and harvested in their very own urban farming lab. The Farm Foodcraft, located at The sphere, Bangsar South is one of it that embraces the idea.
At first, I wanted to give their Nasi Kerabu a try, however, their menu have changed and they no longer serve them. Well, it means we will be exploring other varieties they offer. H ere, they serve meat free alternative, western and asian meals.
Cauliflower steak - RM30
First, we have their meat free alternative meal - Cauliflower steak. From it’s name, the first thing that came into my mind was a vegan meat served with cauliflower as side dish. Who would have though that the steak is made from cauliflower, spread with Harrisa paste and served together with farm’s made hummus and farm’s grow kale salad. If you are a vege person, this dish is definitely your go-to but not for me who is a meat eater. The portion of the cauliflower is rather large for me. However, I personally think that their farm’s made hummus is good and the kale salad is really fresh.
Nasi Padang of the Day - RM45-60
Since, I can’t have my Nasi Kerabu, my friend suggested for us to try out their Nasi Padang of the Day. According to their menu, it’s farm’s chef special, so the price may vary based on the protein and 2 side dishes of the day. For the protein, they will serve you eitherfish, cuttlefish or calm with chicken. Apart from protein and 2 sides dishes of the day, it also comes with ulam, keropok and 2 types of Farm’s made sambal.
From the picture above, chicken and fish is the protein of the day and tempeh and cucumber salad as side dishes. Taste wise, it doesn’t really impress me and I am not a fan of their Farm’s made sambal. The only things that I like for this dish will be the cucumber salad and tempeh. Personally, I would not recommend Nasi Padang.
Seafood Arrabiatta - RM 38
However, the one dish that is worth trying is their Seafood Arrabiatta. It’s casareccia pasta cooked with farm’s made Arrabiatta sauce, topped with clam, mussel, prawn, zucchini and eggplant. I like the taste of farm’s made Arrabiatta sauce. Not too spicy and sour for my liking and the seafood is fresh as well.
Spring Chicken (Whole) - Rm58
The last dish that we ordered is roasted spring chicken that comes with farm’s made potato fondant, farm’s grow mix salad and their very own spicy barbecue lycee sauce. Frankly speaking, nothing very special about the chicken but the taste of spicy barbecue lycee sauce is quite interesting. Oh yea! The one thing that caught us by surprise is the farm’s made potato fondant. Its creamy texture, subtly sweet flavour make me crave for more!
Overall, it’s a beautiful and relaxing place to visit and of course the fresh ingredient that are grown and harvested in their own urban farming lab. On the downside, the food price on the high side. However, if you’re looking for a new place to try with nice ambience The Farm Foodcraft could be one of your choice.
